Features
Cabot Factory Finish Latex White Primer #1561 is an acrylic-based primer that is uniquely formulated to produce an excellent bond between the substrate and the topcoat while helping to seal porous surfaces, creating better substrate uniformity. Its acrylic formula remains flexible, resisting cracking, peeling and blistering, and provides superior block resistance, eliminating the need for slip sheeting.
Coverage
Apply 6 wet mils, which can be measured with a wet film gauge. On smooth surfaces, approximately 250 - 350 square feet per gallon; on rough surfaces, 200 - 250 square feet per gallon. These rates will vary depending upon the porosity and roughness of the surface.
Where to Use
Formulated specifically for machine application, when coated on all sides, this primer makes an ideal base coat for Cabot Factory Finish, as well as The Finish, Cabot PRO.V.T.® Solid Color Acrylic Stains and other 100% acrylic solid color stains and paints. Factory Finish Latex White Primer provides superior performance and durability on exterior siding and trim. In addition, it provides excellent adhesion to all new, smooth, shiny (mill glaze) lumber. Factory Finish Latex White Primer is recommended for use on lumber such as eastern white cedar, incense cedar, fir, pine, cypress, spruce, as well as cementitious sidings, hardboards and other manufactured wood siding.
Preparing Your Surfaces
Proper surface preparation is the key to maximum finish performance. The durability of this product can be impaired by an unsound or poorly prepared surface. It is very important that the surface be clean of all dirt, mildew stains, loose wood fibers, loose cement fibers and other foreign matter. Surfaces must be dry. (Moisture content of wood must be 15% or lower.)
Application
Apply only by machine under factory-controlled conditions.
