Features
Cabot Factory Finish Acrylic Neutral Base Primer #1565 is an acrylic-based, exterior primer that is uniquely formulated to provide resistance to mildew stains and moisture problems. Its acrylic formula remains flexible, resisting cracking, peeling or blistering. Formulated specifically for machine application, when coated on all sides of the lumber, this primer makes an ideal base coat for Cabot Factory Finish, as well as Cabot PRO.V.T.® Solid Color Acrylic Stains, The Finish, and other 100% acrylic solid color stains and paints.
Coverage
Apply at 6 mils. Six (6) mils is measured with a wet film gauge. On smooth surfaces, approximately 250-350 square feet per gallon; on rough surfaces, 200-250 square feet per gallon. These rates will vary depending upon the porosity of the surface. Available only in five-gallon containers.
Where to Use
Factory Finish Acrylic Neutral Base Primer provides superior performance and durability on exterior siding and trim. In addition, it provides excellent adhesion to all new, smooth, shiny (mill glaze) lumber. Factory Finish Acrylic Neutral Base Primer is recommended for use on lumber such as cedar, incense cedar, fir, pine, cypress, spruce, redwood and plywood, including MDO panel siding, as well as hardboards and other manufactured wood sidings.
Preparing Your Surfaces
Proper surface preparation is the key to maximum finish performance. The durability of this product can be impaired by an unsound or poorly prepared surface. It is very important that the surface be clean of all dirt, mildew stains, loose wood fibers and other foreign matter. Surfaces must be dry. (Moisture content of wood must be below 15%.)
Application
Apply only by machine under factory-controlled conditions.
